Passage 3 Requires More Than Finding Information
These mocks place greater emphasis on arguments, qualifications, writer viewpoints, competing explanations and the relationship between ideas.
Advanced Passages
Each mock introduces an entirely different academic argument.
Mixed Questions
Train across views, headings, information, summaries and choices.
Argument Tracking
Follow concessions, causes, criticism and conclusions across paragraphs.
Evidence Analysis
Compare your interpretation with supporting passage evidence.
Follow the Argument, Not Just the Vocabulary
In advanced passages, two answer choices may both mention genuine ideas from the text. The difference is often in the relationship between those ideas.
Identify Positions
Separate the writer's argument from evidence, examples and views attributed to other people.
Track Qualifiers
Words such as may, partly, generally and only can completely change whether a statement agrees with the text.
Compare Meaning
Expect the question to paraphrase the source rather than repeat its wording.
Prove the Answer
Before committing, identify the passage evidence that actually supports your choice.
Practice note: All passages and questions are original Victoria Academy practice material and are not live IELTS examination papers. The complete IELTS Academic Reading test contains three sections and 40 questions within 60 minutes overall. The 20-minute timer here is a practice pacing target. Results are shown as raw scores rather than IELTS band scores.
Understand the Argument Before You Chase the Answer.
Passage 3 rewards readers who can recognise viewpoints, follow logical relationships and distinguish what a text actually claims from what it merely mentions.
IELTS Reading Passage 3 Mock FAQs
How many Passage 3 mocks are included?
This bank contains 10 original advanced Reading mocks with 13 questions in each, giving you 130 questions in total.
Is Passage 3 officially limited to 20 minutes?
No. IELTS provides 60 minutes for the complete Academic Reading test. The timer on this page is only a pacing exercise.
Why are these passages more difficult?
The exercises use more abstract arguments, stronger paraphrasing, competing viewpoints, qualification and inference.
Does every mock use the same question types?
No. The question combinations vary so you have to adapt your approach from one passage to another.
Why is there no IELTS band score?
A Passage 3 exercise contains only part of the full Reading test, so this tool reports the raw practice score instead of presenting it as an official band result.
Are these official IELTS questions?
No. Every passage and question in the bank is original practice material created for Victoria Academy.
